Fireworks MX 2004 buggggg!!!!!!!
I opened a file in fireworks MX 2004 that had an existing pop-up nav menu, I made a couple of changes to the menu and exported the menu as Fireworks html. When I went to insert it into Dreamweaver MX it said "error this is not a fireworks html file", so I asumed it must be an issue with Dreamweaver MX and Fireworks MX 2004, but no, it said the same thing when I used Dreamweaver MX 2004 to insert it.
I then opened the png file in Fireworks MX and exported the menu again and again neither versions of Dreamweaver would accept the html file.
So, Fireworks MX 2004 had corrupted the png file somehow, however I had a backed up copy of the png file and I opened that with Fireworks MX, exported the menu and inserted the html file into Dreamweaver MX with no problems at all.
It seems that when I opened the original file in Fireworks MX 2004 and made the changes and then saved it it did something to the file.
I have seen on these forums where other people have had the same problem.
My advise it don't open up any files in Fireworks MX 2004 unless you have a backed up copy of the file.

Re: Fireworks MX 2004 buggggg!!!!!!!
See reply to other post in Dreamweaver forum... for readers here, I
basically reprised the ways we've seen here to get "invalid file"
reports, and suggested the standard isolation testing path.
