Fireworks MX2004 slow when switching from other app - Macromedia Fireworks

System - mac os 10.3.2, dual 1.8ghz with 2g ram -- FIREWORKS MX 2004 7.0.1 Can someone explain why when switching into FW from any other application, it takes a good 10 seconds or more before FW is ready to be used? I can be working in DW, and then need to jump into FW, and as soon as I click on a FW doc, I'll get 10 or 15 seconds of the disc spinning icon before I can do anything? This is so damn annoying. I upgrade to a faster machine, supposedly faster software and I'm wishing for fw4 ...

    Dan,

How many sites do you have defined in Dreamweaver? As discussed
elsewhere on this forum, having a lot of sites defined can slow
    Fireworks down on the Mac.

I have about 75 web sites in DW MX 2004. Even if DW is not running, FW is slow to 'turn on' when I go into it from another app. Yet, FW4 has no delay at all.

I'll try to find out other info I guess about the other issue with having a lot of sites in DW, but I'm at a loss to see the correlation.

And what's the solution to that anyway - delete sites? I'm jumping from site to site all the time - to redefine em as I use them would take more time than FW is already wasting-??

    Help!

Yep, that sounds like the culprit. 75 sites is a bit more than Fireworks
can handle quickly. It doesn't matter if DW is running or not, we
always go out and re-read in the DW prefs each time we activate.

We read in the site information each time we become activate - that's
    the correlation.

Unfortunately, that's about the only solution you have right now. You
could rename the SitePrefs file (~/Library/Application
Support/Macromedia/Common/Site Prefs) if you just have Fireworks
running. That way we won't keep re-reading that file - but you'd have to
    put it back for Dreamweaver.
