I agree with all of it. Flash can be very powerful when used
appropriately but unfortunately, there are too many obnoxious sites
cluttering the net. Sites that makes noises, or play music are
annoying. Sites that make you sit through a meaningless animation
before you can view the content you've selected are annoying. Buttons
that don't look like buttons are annoying. The reader should have full
control over their browser. The reader should not have to spend 5
minutes mousing over the screen in search of a button. The reader, upon
finally finding the desired button, should not be forced to sit through
an animation before they can view what they came for. Designers get too
caught up in showcasing their own skills rather than serving the reader.
Web pages are in essence advertisements, so of course they should be
aesthetically pleasing...but artistry CANNOT replace usability
(especially when the artistry sucks, too.)

God this argument is sooo old. People have been complaining about Flash
intros and crappy sites forever. Nothing new in this article. Sure,
anything can be used to make crappy and cheesy stuff. Even HTML. So what?
As the author said, it's not Flash and if you use Flash like a pro then you
won't offend anyone. Also, all of the capabilities he said lacked can be
easily added to a Flash site if the author chooses. It's a matter of work.

Flash definitely has its place. Incorporating Flash elements into your
design can really spice it up and draw attention to certain details.
I don't believe in full intros unless they are super quick to load, offer a
skip option or if the page at least displays the main site navigation
    outside of the intro.

But Flash can definitely be evil when you have to wait five minutes just to
see a terrible intro and you can't even bypass it.
