Flash Local Video Record - NEED EXPERT
:confused; Hello. I need to record video from a webcam locally, then allow a
user to SAVE abd then upload to the server. I have heard that this is possible,
but most people's first reaction is that Flash only allows saving direct to the
server. Any help out there?

Re: Flash Local Video Record - NEED EXPERT
where the streams folder is stored can be changed by modifing its config
parameters just change it to the ftp folder or whatever you are
using..........the config file will be in the flash med** server 2 folder some
place ....I suspect it is in conf........let me know where you find it if you
would...I've included the path to the conf folder below.
C:\Program Files\Macromed**\Flash Med** Server 2\conf

Re: Flash Local Video Record - NEED EXPERT
If your users are using the Flash Player then there is no way to save the FLV
locally. You can stream it from their machine to FMS and have it store it on
the server.
With the newly released (and free) Adobe Flash Media Encoder, users could
install that on their local machine and use it to record and save the FLV
locally. Then you would have to have some sort of web form or FTP access for
them to upload the FLV to FMS.
One advantage of using the Flash Media Encoder is that it encodes FLVs with
the On2 VP6 codec as opposed to the Flash Player which can only stream with the
Sorenson codec.

Yeah, you can use some screen recorder to help you. The one I used can record video from your desktop, and you can also record video through your webcam. I always use it to record yoga online videos on computer, and save it as standard video files, then export the recorded video to my portable device.
