    Default Flash MX2004 defficiency

MACROMEDIA in it's infinte wisdom has removed the Normal/Expert Modes for Action Scripting and will not support customers needing crossrefrence information, saying: "Please be informed that Macromedia Customer Service is not technically trained to answer your questions. " This is from a person, not an auto responder.

The only documentation of this is in the Help portion of the program and is not told to people BEFORE they buy this product. From the Help file

"Normal and expert modes no longer in Actions panel In previous versions of Flash, you could work in the Actions panel either in normal mode, in which you filled in options and parameters to create code, or in expert mode, in which you added commands directly into the Script pane. In Flash MX 2004 and Flash MX Professional 2004, you can work in the Actions panel only by adding commands directly to the Script pane. You can still drag commands from the Actions toolbox into the Script pane or use the Add (+) button above the Script pane to add commands to a script"

Until MACROMEDIA changes its position I would discourage people from buying this product, my instructors and fellow students agree with this position.

    Default Re: Flash MX2004 defficiency

To recap my response on another thread- Customer Service is indeed not
technically trained with our software, nor is the right point of contact for
technical questions. If you're looking for that type of product-specific
help, please contact Technical Support directly.

And by all means let the product team know how you feel about the removal of
Normal mode AS via their feature request/bug report list:
