I am having the same problem on a brand new MacBook Pro 1.83 Ghz intel core duo, OSX 10.4.5. Flash player 8 install worked fine. Flash player works in Firefox, but not in Safari.

I'm on my new iMac G5 Intel and I learned last night how Flash works
fine in Safari. All you have to do is close Safari, then click once to
highlite the Safari icon. Then go up to your menu and select File/Get
Info. When the info box for Safari opens, you'll see where you can
insert a check where you see "Open using Rosetta" to activate Rosetta.
That's all it takes! When you re-open Safari, it'll play Flash and
you'll be happy again.
And by the way... Flip4Mac's amazing WMV Player, which enables your
Quicktime Player to play and save Windows Media Video as mov files,
works fine in the QuickTime Player after you similarly activate the
Rosetta feature inside your Quicktime Player. Enjoy!!!

Re: Flash player 8 not working on intel core duo macbookw/ safari
Had the same problem with my new iMac core duo. After downloading and running
the install, go to your Applications folder, control-click Safari, select "Get
Info" and check the "Open Using Rosetta" option. The plugin will now work
perfectly.

Re: Flash player 8 not working on intel core duo macbookw/ safari
I believe my problem came from installing Flash 8 Player manually from the
Macromedia site, which is the PowerPC version. Apparently, Intel Macs have an
Intel-only Flash Player preinstalled, which I overwrote with the PowerPC
version by mistake. Until the Universal binary of Flash Player is made
available, one should use the version on the installation disks that come with
your machine.
The solution is posted here:

background here: http://www.kaourantin.net/2006/02/universal-binaries.html.
Flash now works for me in Safari (universal), Firefox under Rosetta and the
current beta universal binary version of Firefox ("DeerPark"), v1.5.0.1.
Case closed. I hope this helps others.

Case not closed. I would like to know what all of your opinions are of the
Flash 8 player performance running on one of the new chip sets? Is the overall
Flash performace better now, or the same as with a G4? Do you still see frames
drop, images crunch and burn when there is too much animation?
Would love to hear peoples feedback on this....

Re: Flash player 8 not working on intel core duo macbookw/ safari
I have a new Dual 2.3MHZ Power Mac G5 (not an Intel Mac laptop), and have been
running Safari with the Flash 8 plugin fine ever since I got the machine about
5/6 weeks ago but since last week suddenly I can no longer see Flash content in
Safari either. I have tried everything - uninstalling, installing Flash Player
7 etc etc but still no luck.
Is this part of the same known issue? It's very frustrating, especially since
I am a designer working purely on Flash based websites.
Bentley Wolfe, any suggestions?

Re: Flash player 8 not working on intel core duo macbookw/ safari
You can temporarily solve the problem by going into "Get Info" on the Safari
icon and check the button that says open with Rosetta. Rosetta is a program
that lets Flash play. But now I can't open up Java script. I jogging back and
forth for now.
