Flash Player Does Not Play Video Movies
I am running XP Home with SP2. I have followed the uninstall and reinstall
instructions describe elsewhere in this forum. I have downloaded and installed
flash player 9 using the stand-alone installer. I receive confirmation that it
is installed. For some websites and programs flash content is displayed. When I
go to some web sites (ABC. com, Acura.com), which require flash player to show
certain content, I receive a message, that flash player is not installed. I
follow the instructions, install flash player (again), receive confirmation it
is installed, but the flash content on the above websites do not play. I have
read about a fix by downloading a tool called SubInACL. Is this a fix I should
pursue for my problem?:disgust;

Re: Flash Player Does Not Play Video Movies
Hi badgerfan74,
No please do not use Microsoft?s SubInACL for this issue. If you are able to
view Flash content on certain websites, but not others, this is most likely a
detection schema issue not a system registry permission issue.
SubInACL is used if you have permission issues in your registry that prevent
you from installing Flash Player or other applications.
Please check to see if you have all the following registry keys on your system:
Select Start > Run and type in ?regedit?
Search for these keys:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.1
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.3
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.4
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.5
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.6
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.7
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.8
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.9
Thank you, -Darren

Re: Flash Player Does Not Play Video Movies
I have the ShockwaveFlash keys as you have listed, including one without a number at the end. What should I try next?

Re: Flash Player Does Not Play Video Movies
Delete the entire SafeVersions folder
Run the Flash Player uninstaller.
Then reinstall.
Let us know what happens...

Re: Flash Player Does Not Play Video Movies
Bentley,
Thanks for the reply. Where do I find the "SafeVersions folder"? What problem does this fix?
