Flash player not recognised? - Macromedia Flash Player

I'm on a website that contains videos that require Flash player to run. I'm getting the message "Flash 7 or abobe is required to view this content" in the space where the video should be. I have installed Flash Player 9 two or three times but it keeps saying this message. I've got Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer 7....

I just managed to get it working somehow. I went to this location on the Adobe
    website:-

    http://www.macromedia.com/support/doentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_man
    ager03.html

    OR

Support Home -> Flash Player -> Contact Customer Services -> Select Product
(Flash Player) -> Click Go -> Click "How do I set my Flash Player security?" ->
Click "How do I prevent third parties from using Flash to track me across
websites?" -> Click "Global Storage settings panel"

On the following page there was a blue box asking me to download Flash Player
again. When I clicked anywhere within the box but NOT on the Flash Player icon,
an IE dialog appeared asking me if I wanted to download "swflash.cab". I
downloaded that and installed it. I don't understand what is different between
this and the normal ActiveX control download but Flash movies are working now.
Does Adobe know about this problem?

Yaaaaa, I too had the same problem, I run XP Pro SP-2 & IE7. I kept getting
the same error from certain websites and when I installed the latest Flash
Player i was still getting the message that I needed to upgrade to Flash Player
7 or higher. The 'swflash.cab download fix worked thanks :-)
