Default Flash Video Does Not Show

I have set up a page with a flash video in the two different mode streaming and
progressive download video. Neither one shows up when I view the page from the
server. Anyone have tips for me or know what the problem is? Thanks.

so i am not an expert by any means but i will try to help.
what app did you use to create the flash video?

assuming you are using Flash CS3 professional, and talking about the
progressive download method, when you uploaded the files to your server did you
make sure that the SWF file (assuming it is in embedded HTML) is in the same
folder as the HTML file? and that the FLV file is indeed located where you
    specified when creating the project?

What kind of OS does your server run? are you hosting the FLV file locally
(on the same server) or elsewhere (such as on Amazon S3 or a CDN service)?

Answers to these questions and a bit more details about your 'Publishing'
settings and I might be able to help =)

he server is Windows2003. I have local access to it.
Yes all files are located on the same folder.

again i know very little about this and i may be totally wrong, but are you
trying to view the FLV file on the server through a browser? usually this is
accomplished by Publishing an SWF (Shockwave) file which contains the necessary
data to access and playback the FLV file in your browser. that SWF file will
have a corresponding HTML file when you choose 'Publish' in Flash CS3.

i don't know if this was any help at all -- but most of the time i think
people choose to publish their flash projects to SWF/HTML files accessing the
FLV video that will then progressively download.

Ok I have put the FLV in Flash CS3 exported the swf and html file. All components in the same directory. The local playback is perfect. The server playback nothing happens.

you need the SWF file to 'point' to the location of your FLV file.
is this (source) video that you are working with or a flash application?
if it is video that was imported into Flash CS3, you need to make sure that
when you import the video into Flash, you choose 'Import Video' and make sure
you type in the exact URI of the remotely deployed (the location on your
server) FLV file. Then export to SWF/HTML and make sure that you choose the
proper publishing options that suit your needs. Again, the SWF file serves as
a reference to the FLV file and SWF files always run client-side i think,
meaning on the end-users computer. The FLV source file should be located
somewhere where the SWF file knows where it is. either in the same folder on
your server (all 3, FLV, HTML, SWF in one folder) or in another remote location
on your server, assuming you imported the video and point directly (on import)
to the location of the remotely stored FLV file. If the SWF can't find the
FLV file then that's why you are having problems.
The Progressive download method requires all 3 files SWF FLV and HTML.

make sure you have all 3 in the same place or at least linked together using
    the Flash CS3 settings.
let me know if this is any help =)

Do you know how to get it connect through the Flash Media Server interface? could that be the problem? Do I need to create an instance of it on the server?
