After upgrading to debian etch, I've noticed flash has no audio.

It appears that flash opens /dev/snd/{timer,pcmC0D0p} until it hits the 1024
limit (source: lsof -n):
firefox-b 18003 bk 803r CHR 116,33 16121
/dev/snd/timer
firefox-b 18003 bk 804u CHR 116,16 16170
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p

then firefox displays this endlessly:
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:914:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave

Browsing one or two more web pages afterwards results in a segfault.

Is there a solution to this?

Other relevent information:
- flash version: "Shockwave Flash 9.0 r31"
- I am not using debian's firefox / iceweasel package.
- ALSA dmix works fine with xmms and mplayer
- ALSA version 1.0.13
- linux kernel 2.6.19
