flashmx actionscript bible - best chapter
So, I just got the actionscript bible. I plan on reading the whole book, but is there a spot that anyone recommends scanning first?

Re: flashmx actionscript bible - best chapter
I started at the beginning and am currently up to chapter 20. Where to begin is somewhat dependant on your current AS knowledge and what tasks you're immediately interested in knowing about. (i.e. Signing up for Trigonometry 101 before completing Algebra 101 because you need to learn about tangents RIGHT NOW is probably not a good thing to do.) Out of about a dozen Flash and ActionScript books I've got, the two Bible books tend to be the most comprehensive. My main two gripes about them though is a lack of syntax examples (he'll often mention a new command without giving any indication of how to use it!), and having all Earthlink-domain e-mail addresses blocked at his support site due to "known spam" domain (so you cannot e-mail him with a question if you happen to have an Earthlink e-mail address).
It's also sort've fun to look for the typos while reading the book....there are a LOT of them, even in the code examples.

Re: flashmx actionscript bible - best chapter
Yeah, I'm already comfortable with the basics of actionscript. I'm inclined to look up dynamically placing movieclips on stage and stuff like that....or sending data in and out of flash....or...crap, I'll just start at the beginning!
Yes, I now have both bibles, and the first was a joy to me, as I'm sure I would have caught all of the typo's in one proof (if I were armed with the technical knowledge that the author must have).
