Re: FlashPlayer 8.0 Compatibility Issues with Win98SE,Internet Explorer 6.0?
I am having issues also with Flash 8 and Win 98 se and IE6. My problem is as
follows: whenever I have more than 1 browser window open and then work in the
previous one it locks my machine tight ever since I uninstalled Flash 8 my
symptoms have disappeared. Does anyone know where I can download flash player 7
at?

Re: FlashPlayer 8.0 Compatibility Issues with Win98SE,Internet Explorer 6.0?
Unfortunately, it looks like this "club" is growing. Microsoft released a
critical update dated 10/1105 - Q896688. Since then, I can't access Windows
Update--I need Administrator Privileges (W98SE), and ANYTHING pertaining to
Flash or Shockwave displays as a big white empty box with a small box in the
upper left consisting of a red square, green circle, and blue triangle. I
tried restoring my Reg to pre-update date, per a Microsoft community forum
suggestion, but that didn't work. They claim the update corrupted the
registry, but some DLLs were updated as well -- they may be the culprit. I'm
trying to get someone at Microsoft to listen to me. Ho Hum.

Re: FlashPlayer 8.0 Compatibility Issues with Win98SE,Internet Explorer 6.0?
I was having the same problem, couldn't view any Flash enabled site without IE
shutting down on my 98SE. Removed the Flash Player object from my IE (Internet
Options, General, Setings, View Objects) and was able to get to Macromedia site
to obtain uninstaller and archived version of Flash Player 7. Everything
works fine now. Last time I trust a pop-up from Macromedia.:disgust;

Re: FlashPlayer 8.0 Compatibility Issues with Win98SE,Internet Explorer 6.0?
I took your advice and installed Flash 7. In the process, the obsolete ActiveX
control for swflash.inf was removed. I now am running Flash Player 8 with no
problems. The real culprit is Microsoft's critical update Q896688 and their
new version of Mshtml.dll - 6.00.2800.1522. Restoring the old Mshtml.dll -
6.00.2800.1106 solves ALL problems, including Windows Update.

Re: FlashPlayer 8.0 Compatibility Issues with Win98SE,Internet Explorer 6.0?
I've been having the same issue with WinXP, as noted in a few threads above,
but I also am not familiar with where to go about obtaining Flash 7 so that I
can still have some functionality. Any help is appreciated!
