FlvPlayer works with FireFox but not with IE - Macromedia Flash Player

Hi, I created a FLV player to play remote .FLV movie. It works with Firefox but not with Internet Explorer 6 or 7. In fact, when I test it locally on my desktop with local (on my desktop) .FLV file, the movie player works in IE. The problem seems to be from my website when playing remote .FLV file, it only works with Firefox. Try http://www.wikiguitarist.com with Firefox and IE 6-7 and you will see it only works with Firefox. The movie player (right section) access this remote file: http://www.wikiguitarist.com/wikiguitarist/images/9/9a/CanonFuntwo.flv . Since this is a Wikimedia site the HTML is ...

Default FlvPlayer works with FireFox but not with IE

Hi,

I created a FLV player to play remote .FLV movie. It works with Firefox but
not with Internet Explorer 6 or 7. In fact, when I test it locally on my
desktop with local (on my desktop) .FLV file, the movie player works in IE. The
problem seems to be from my website when playing remote .FLV file, it only
works with Firefox.

Try http://www.wikiguitarist.com with Firefox and IE 6-7 and you will see it
only works with Firefox. The movie player (right section) access this remote
file: http://www.wikiguitarist.com/wikiguitarist/images/9/9a/CanonFuntwo.flv .

Since this is a Wikimedia site the HTML is generated from a PHP file. Here is
the
http://www.wikiguitarist.com/wikiguitarist/extensions/flvplayer/FLVPlayer.txt
which generates the HTML.

Is Internet Explorer browser only interpret the tag: <embed> ?
Why IE has problem playing remote .FLV file and not Firefox?

Any idea, suggest code, suggest HTLML, action script...?

Thanks
Alain

IE does NOT process the (non-standard) <embed> tag .. its only for firefox,
netscape etc.

Your html is a bit of a mess there ..

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
data="/wikiguitarist/extensions/flvplayer/FlowPlayer.swf" width="320"
height="290" id="FlowPlayer"><param name="allowScriptAccess"
value="sameDomain" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><param
name="movie" value="/wikiguitarist/extensions/flvplayer/FlowPlayer.swf"
/><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="flashvars"
value="autoPlay=false" /><param name="flashvars"
value="videoFile=/wikiguitarist/images/9/9a/CanonFuntwo.flv&amp;baseURL=http://www.wikiguitarist.com:80&amp;loop=false"
/><embed allowScriptAccess="always"
src="/wikiguitarist/extensions/flvplayer/FlowPlayer.swf"FlashVars=videoFile=/wikiguitarist/images/9/9a/CanonFuntwo.flv&amp;baseURL=http://www.wikiguitarist.com:80&amp;loop=false"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"""
pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer""" width="320"
height="290" /></embed></object>

... you've got multiple flashvars (I don't know if that is allowed) and your
embed tag appear to be missing spaces between attributes (it sa wonder it
works at all).

Make your HTML cleaner without duplicate parms etc and it will probably
work.

IE the problem apepars to be your HTML, not IE or Firefox

I can see your video with IE6. It could use some buffering, but otherwise it is fine.

Hi guys,

Many thanks Jeckyl, you were right, it seems that only one FLASVARS is
permitted. Nevertheless I will try to test if I can pass more than one
variable/value withing one declaration of FLASVARS. At the moment, by leaving
only one FLASVARS statement the video works correctly with IE and Firefox. I
will also do a bit of cleanup, it is true that my generated HTML is a bit
messy.

Thanks to WindShadow75 for your reply, now you see it working because I
removed the extra FLASVARS declaration.

Many tanks guy, it is appreciated!!!
