FM Application and Relationships - FileMaker

Hello. I've inherted a FM application, and need to move it to a new server. I'm a FM newbie. The front-end has a lot of relationships to other FM files. If I move the entire FM app folder to a new server, some of those relationships are lost. If I try to access a particular field, FM will tell me xyz.fm5 file is missing. It's there, but the application has just lost where it is. First, can someone tell me why this happens? Also, is there a better way to move an application to a new server so that all ...

    Default FM Application and Relationships

Hello. I've inherted a FM application, and need to move it to a new server.
    I'm a FM newbie.

The front-end has a lot of relationships to other FM files. If I move the
entire FM app folder to a new server, some of those relationships are lost.
If I try to access a particular field, FM will tell me xyz.fm5 file is
missing. It's there, but the application has just lost where it is.

First, can someone tell me why this happens? Also, is there a better way to
move an application to a new server so that all the relationships are
maintained? What's the best way to reestablish these relationships?

This is FM Server 5.5 on Win2K.

When it complains, it will ask you to locate the file - locate it and it
will repair the link and shouldn't ask you again. You may have to do
this while logged in with the master password (if there is one set).

For some reason, FM tracked the full instead of relative path name to
    the related files.

You may want to look at the # of files hosted, once we moved a our backup
file to a new temp machine to replace a bad card in the main server,

the number of hosted files were lower then the actually number of files
reseluting in the file not being found (yet still there) stoping the server
, increasing the number of files hosted solved this.. just a thought.
