FMS2 Doesn't work - Not a seamless upgrade

Posted: 01-19-2006, 04:19 PM
My company upgraded to FMS2 from FCS. We have been creating streaming media
for some time and have been very successful in doing this... Until now. We
installed the server and mapped the file folders to the new server. Not only
can't we get the old media to play, we can't get new Flash 8 video to play.
For instance: rtmp://serverlocation/foldername/myinstance/foldername/FLVmedia
We keep getting Failed to load FLV message

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

If FMS is on the same machine as your FCS installation was.... did you
uninstall FCS 1.5? I had the same problem, but I noticed that is was because
FCS was still installed and running, and was occupying ports 1935 and 80.

Are you having problems connecting to FMS via the admin console?

They are both on the same server although we did do a check to make sure that
both 1935 and 80 were attached to the FMS and that the FCS was stopped.

We were successful in connecting to the FMS via the admin console. As a
matter of fact, we could even see the comm attempts so we know it's connecting
but we are still getting the same response when we try to access the FLV files.

Very frustrating to say the least.

PS I fogot to mention that when accessing Flash 7 videos most of the time the
audio starts but the video fails to show unless you click on the refresh button
in the browser. It could take as many as three or four times before the video
shows.

I am having exactly the same problem. Were you able to successfully stream video with FMS2?

Hi, Unfortunately no. I have to say I am extremely disappointed with
Macromedia (Adobe) with the lack of support for this product. I have never
been pleased with their documentation. It's the same old story of clear as
mud. Let me know if you have any luck.

Have you contacted Macromedia directly? This is a user to user support forum, and I don't think the MM people read in on it all that often.

Hi,
Yes I did and they want to charge me for support so needless to say I am not a real fan of FMS right now.

Hi,

I just intalled FMS Linux version in my Fedora Core 3 box. I tried samples and tutorials including sample_videoconference of FCS1.5. It seems working.
