Folder/Directory compare utility? - Mac Applications & Software

Looking for a utility that will allow me to compare directories and move files and/or folders between the directories. Basically I want to synchronize 2 directories. I looked in Version Tracker, and found Folder Compare. It crashed. Not ready for prime time, I'm afraid. Prefer OS X functionality, but OS 9 would be OK, too. Suggestions? Thanks, -- Dave C com...

    Default Folder/Directory compare utility?

Looking for a utility that will allow me to compare directories and move
files and/or folders between the directories. Basically I want to synchronize
    2 directories.

I looked in Version Tracker, and found Folder Compare. It crashed. Not ready
    for prime time, I'm afraid.

Prefer OS X functionality, but OS 9 would be OK, too.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks,

If you're looking for a syncing program, I have found ExecutiveSync to be quite nice, although it does cost a nominal fee. Just search for it on VT, or just search for sync if you want more syncro programs.

For synchronizing two folders, you've already got rsync installed with
Mac OS X. If you prefer not to use the command line, you'll want
    something called RsyncX.

If you want to do it manually, install the developer tools. One of the
many things installed is "File Merge", which (although you wouldn't
expect it from its name) can compare both directories and the files in
it. It's quite good at it (reminds me a bit of Araxxis Merge on Windows)
and allows you to merge both directories and files.
