Default Font attribute changes when converted to PDF

    Hi,

We have a Word 2002 doc (Win 2000 & Win XP) that is using the Type 1 font of Palatino set at 10 points. When we use Acrobat 5.0.5 Distiller as our print driver to convert to pdf, the font attributes changes from 10 point to 10.02 point. It is very subtle but it has causes us pagination issues.

Has anyone else had this happen? Could it be a monitor distortion? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Whenever you print to a different printer than the default in WORD, you need to set the printer as your printer in WORD and then do a scan through the document to fix all page breaks and such. WORD reflows the document to best fit the page on your selected printer and it sounds as though that is the problem.

Hmmmmm, interesting since we use Acrobat Distiller as the default print driver and we do not use page breaks in the document.

Could there must be something else that I am missing?

    Thanks, Dianne

Not sure. I just looked through several PDF files and the attributes for the basic fonts all showed 12pt.

The TouchUp Text tool is using the metrics in the document to calculate the point size. What you're seeing is an estimate--the actual point size is not stored in the PDF.
