font auto-activation ID 4.0.4

I just upgraded from 4.0.2 to 4.0.4. I am using Linotype Explorer. I now get a message: activating fonts, pleas wait. They never activate. Then I hit cancel and Linotype Explorer no longer activates fonts either. I can't find a way to turn this new feature off in ID. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using Font Explorer 1.1 or 1.0? If you're not up to 1.1 yet, try upgrading first.

I am using 1.0.1 of Font Explorer. That is the latest on the Linotype site.

Oddly enough, Adobe's site says that the internal ID autoactivation is defaulted as disabled in 4.0.3 and 4.0.4. But for me, 4.0.4 turned it on and I can't turn it off.

Yep, as Marco sez, you're now 0.9 behind. The new 1.1 specifically cured this issue one of my users, so I suspect it will fix it for you too.

I still have this problem with FEX 1.1 and ID 4.04. I also cannot manage fonts or replace them when I get the subsequent error messagea bout Times not being activated in my ID documents. Wondering if this is an FEX problem or an ID issue?

Drat. Sorry to hear that. Not sure who is to blame unfortunately... all I can recommend is going back to manual activation for now? Also, be sure and report the bug to the FEX guys; they've been pretty responsive when I've emailed them.
