I'm sorry if this is duplicate post, but I didn't see my original post from the
4th show up in the forum. Is anyone else having problems with getting Suitcase
Font Auto-Activation to work properly in Freehand MX? Some background, our
graphics dept is running Mac OS 10.2.8 on 450MHz G4's and using Freehand MX
11.0.1. We are also using the latest version of Suitcase X1 in conjuntion with
the latest version of Suitcase Server. We also recently converted our font
library to exclusively OpenType Fonts, having purchased Adobe's OpenType Font
Folio. So far, we have come across half a dozen or so fonts that won't
auto-activate in FreeHand. To test the problem, we created simple one font
documents in FreeHand, Illustrator and TextEdit. In every test case, the fonts
properly auto-activated in the Illustrator and TextEdit documents, but failed
to auto-activate in FreeHand. We sent a copy of the fonts and the test
documents to Extensis's tech support and they were able to duplicate the
problems. There official response was that there was nothing wrong with the
fonts in question and that the problem was with FreeHand. According to
Extensis, FreeHand MX doesn't properly follow Apple's guidlines for font
auto-activation. They did say they would pass on a request to their
development team to see if they could create a FreeHand Plugin for a later
release, but that there was nothing currently they could do to get the fonts in
question to auto-activate properly in FreeHand and we should talk to MacroMedia
about the problem. For refference, here are 4 of the fonts that won't
auto-activate: Helvetica LT Std Condensed, Helvetica Neue LT Std 57 Condensed,
ITC Berkeley Oldstyle Std Bold and Adobe Garamond Pro Semibold Italic. If
anyone at MacroMedia is reading this, has this problem been reported before and
are there any plans to address it?
