    Hey guys

wondering if anyone has a definative answer for the brutal anti-aliasing of
fonts in Flash...here we are in version 7 or 8 and still having problems
displaying legible fonts. I have tryed using a variety of pixel fonts some work
at an 8 pt size which is too small and others are just as blurry as regular
fonts. I have tryed everything I can think of and found in tech notes and on
other Flash related websites and I still dont have a concrete answer.

Can someone please tell me or point me in the right direction to a good
resource for a good free pixel font that can be displayed at a resonable size
or to a tutorial that they have actually gone through and found to work that
allows you to display text at a resonable size that is clean and legible?

    Thanks

If you are using a really small point size font like 11 or under, turn anti
aliasing off. You can do that in Flash MX 2004 as it is a new feature. That
will get rid of the blurriness. That option can be found in the properties tab
when you have text selected. Hope this helps.

Are you placing the text field on the stage using whole number x and y
    coordinates?

If you use PIXEL fonts in Flash, they need to have x,y coordinates that are
WHOLE numbers. Additionally, they must be set to the exact size for which they
were developed (most are 8,9, or 10 pixels). If you don't do this, the fonts
will be blurry. See the 'readme' file that comes with the font.

Change the text to Dynamic instaed of Static, it will solve your problems right away, and other people
would be able to copy and paste it too.

You also want to make sure that your text is on the grid. simply set the x and y positions to 'round numbers'. So on full or .5 positons
