    Default font distortion in PDFs

Client says fonts are appearing distorted (top or bottom edges clipped) in PDF document. Fonts appear fine in my document when viewed on Mac and PC, though I've experienced distorted type occasionally on PDFs received from printers. Fonts in my document in question are definitely embedded and definitely postscript. Any ideas as to why this happens? Are certain fonts better for PDFs than others? Might this be a monitor display (hardware) issue?
    Thanks.

You should mention what version of Acrobat you utilise - since Acrobat 6
Professional has a preflight feature to quickly check for fonts embedded
    in the PDF.

Otherwise, go to DOCUMENT PROPERTIES/FONTS (or similar depending on your
versions) and ensure that all the fonts are either EMBEDDED or EMBEDDED
SUBSET ... any font WITHOUT these words is NOT in the PDF ...

This is a good place to start ..

Yes, I'm using Acrobat 6, and yes, I checked document properties/fonts and they ARE embedded.
