Font Embedding Question
I have created a document in Quark Xpress 6.5. I then created a pdf file of the document using custom distiller settings. Under the "Fonts" tab in the settings I checked "Embed all fonts". I also checked "Subset embedded fonts.... (100%)". I opened the file on another computer (not the one that I created it on). When I choose the "touch-up text" tool in Acrobat, I am not able to make a one word revision to the file. Did I do something wrong with the fonts settings? Should "Do Not Send Fonts To Distiller" be checked or unchecked, or does it not make any difference? I am confused. I thought if I embedded the fonts and the subset to 100% that I would be able to make minor edits in the pdf file.
Thanks,

Re: Font Embedding Question
You need to have the font available on the computer you are working on or set the subset to 0% to include the entire font. Not to be used lightly with OpenType fonts. Using 100% says to subset unless all of the characters are used somewhere in the file.

Re: Font Embedding Question
A small correction:
In recent versions of Acrobat, to edit text, you need to have the font>You need to have the font available on the computer you are working on or set the subset to 0% to include the entire font
available on the computer you are working on. That's it. Embedding
will not do it.

Re: Font Embedding Question
Thanks Aandi. I knew at one time you could edit with embedded/unsubsetted fonts.
