Font problem when switching between CS2 and version 9 - Adobe Illustrator Windows

Hi there, I'm working on a project at work using CS2. I then save it to a web directory so I can pull it down and continue working on it at home. At home I only have version 9, so I save the file as a version 9 file when I save it. The problem is that the fonts are no longer really editable. Essentially they get broken up into single letters or small groups of letters, then regrouped for some reason. You can edit single letters individually but not words as a whole. This makes all the text useless ...

Default Font problem when switching between CS2 and version 9

    Hi there,

I'm working on a project at work using CS2.

This makes all the text useless and is extremely frustrating.

Is there anyway to keep the text intact and editable when switching between the two versions? I am using Myriad as the font, which is installed on both machines. I don't understand why Illustrator has to mess with the text.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Illustrator CS1 (and beyond) have a different text engine then the older versions, which is the cause of your problem.

The best you could do is you can select all of your text, and past it into a new text box. That would at least make it one text block, but you'd have to manually add spaces.
