Font Problems with Freehand MX and OSX 10.2.6
Greetings All,
I work for a Large component printer and we have recently been recieving files from customers in Freehand MX and processing them on a Mac OSX 10.2.6 machine. My problem is font related. When I open the file provided (with the customers fonts loaded in Suitcase X) they do not display correctly. They appear all cryptic and make no sense at all. I then save the file as an eps and place it in Quark 6. Again, it appears incorrectly on screen when placed in Quark but when I print the file, everything looks correct. When I create a PDF from the file it appears correct. This method works fine untill I have to make a typesetting correction the original file because I can't decipher the text to make the correction. I don't know if anyone else is having this same problem but any ideas are welcome. Thank you.

Sounds like an issue of corrupt fonts. or missing screen fonts, or some combination thereof. Your best bet would be to get your client to supply you with fresh copies of the fonts in question.

Currupt Fonts were our inital thought but that can not be the problem because the file printed and Postscripted just fine. It has to be something else. Thanks Though!

Re: Font Problems with Freehand MX and OSX 10.2.6
Then I'd say the fonts as supplied were incomplete. If they look like crap on-screen but print correctly, every time, then they are likely missing the corresponding screen fonts. In which case you still need new, complete font sets in order to accurately edit the files.

Re: Font Problems with Freehand MX and OSX 10.2.6
I know what you are talking about Studio327 :-)
For myself I created a while back some LogoFonts that were all working and behaving OK under Mac OS 8.5 - 9.2 and then suddenly when I shifted to Mac OS X, I could not use these fonts anymore in FreeHand. In Illustrator I still can. In FileMaker I can't anymore. Any explanation for this?

Re: Font Problems with Freehand MX and OSX 10.2.6
Hello, OneSizeFitsAll... what font management app, if any, are you using in OS X? For that matter, what were you using in OS 8/9? And what do you mean, exactly, by the term "LogoFonts?" You say you created them?
Cheers,
Max
