Most of us never have more than 25 to 50 fonts active at any one time so I doubt it. plus the programmers say you can have 8000 fonts open.

    Hi
I am working on an educational CD. It's a tutorial on the greek
language. What is the best way to ensure that the users have the greek
fonts. I will be encorporating drills which will require them to enter
alphabets ... is this possible? can I program the keyboard to type
greek letters for the exercise and can I ensure that they will see
greek fonts when they type in the text fields?

    Thank you for your consideratin.

I am on OSX and I am the only user on this machine. I went into Illustrator (10) and only a small portion of my fonts show up. What† could the problem be? I see all the fonts listed in the font book.

What is the best type of font to use with Panther? I seem to be having to many problems with all my fonts (corrupted ones). What is the max number of fonts in the Library fonts folder or on your system?

Having just done a search of this forum for the subject, I guess I have
nothing to add other than my voice to the other complaints.

I have need to resurrect a book cover design done a while back in FH. FHMX
fails to "see" many fonts in my system which no other apps have any problem
with, and fails to allow access to many family variants (Formata, for
example, has several weights, expert sets, SC&OSF, condensed, etc.) of fonts
which it at least lists. This is unacceptable.

Sigh. It's simpler to just rebuild the cover in AI or InD.

    James,
could you resurrect the FH version you used to create the cover?

I could. But I jumped platforms during the initial OSX mess and am working
my way away from Mac OS dependency. I only have the current version of FH on
Windows. Nor am I interested in building new projects on outdated software.
(I probably didn't make that clear; this is a new book cover which must
match the older one). My gripe is that once-great FH has become such a
problem-ridden nightmare ever since FH 10. Even when I decide I want to give
it another go on a current project like this one, I encounter something as
dumb as font problems. I just don't see much hope for FH anymore.

I am working in Illustrator 10 using Windows 2000 trying to create a UL compatible label for our new appliance. They require Helvetica Condensed Black and Helvetica Condensed Medium.

How and where do I acquire these fonts?

    John,

If it's just the UL marks you need, you can go to the UL site and download the applicable logo sheet as PDF files. Example:

    <http://www.ul.com/mark/ulmarkcus.pdf>

You can open these logo sheet files in Illustrator.

I am new to Adobe Illustrator and I am trying to find out the name of a font in my Logo. When I open the eps file and highlight the letters. I cannot find anything that tells me what the font type is for the letters that I have highlighted. I am sure this is a very basic question. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

If the text is outlines, then the font information is nowhere in the file, since Illustrator does not see the shapes as text. Go to <http://www.identifont.com> or <http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont> to identify it.
