Default Fonts are there, then they're not. Bizarre.

I am using InDesign CS on a pc. I use a limited number of fonts to layout our monthly newsletter. I installed the fonts I needed and they were available in the font drop down list in the program. Every so often, I get the missing fonts box when I go to open my application. This is bizarre! The fonts were there and I haven't changed anything in the fonts folder. Any ideas? Or is this just a bug?

I have this problem too. Mainly with Arial family fonts.

I have the same problem. Specifically with Times New Roman true type font. It is installed in my system. For a while it was showing up in my menu, but now it doesn't and nothing I do makes it come back. I'm using InDesign CS on Windows XP.

The fonts I'm having problems with are True Type as well.

Perhaps you're suffering from a variation of this problem: Dave Saunders "Font "not available"" 8/25/04 5:30am </cgi-bin/webx?14@@.3bb5a078/0>

Obviously, Apple dfonts are not an issue for you, but if you do have a mix of TT and PS versions of those fonts (Times New Roman and Arial are likely candidates) then this could explain your problem.

Interesting! I do have a combination of PS and TT fonts so I'll have to see what work-arounds I can implement. Thanks!

I'm dealing with the same issue. Of the users who have ID CS, one is missing the Arial and Times Roman fonts. I can delete the .lst files and they will appear in the list with a blank document, but if they pull up an existing PageMaker document, the fonts are missing. I've also tried replacing the .dll file recommended elsewhere but still have the same issue. This user has no PS fonts, only TT and the adobe fonts PFB/PFM. I've also completely uninstalled and reinstalled ID but have the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
