    Hi there,

Am really upset as this is happenning on WinXP Pro and Win2K.

I have Freehand MX (now MXa v11.0.1) and Illustrator v10.0.3.

I purchased some fonts needed for our artwork, Frutiger 46 Light Italic, Frutiger 65 Bold and Frutiger 66 Bold Italic (all are Type 1).

Both FH MXa and AI 10 have been installed on WinXP Pro and Win2k, the fonts were installed as New Fonts in the Fonts folder of the respective OS.

    Two problems:

    1. In AI, the different Frutigers can be seen in the Type menu or Character tool window. Though in FH MXa Frutiger is shown as Frutiger 45.

    2. We have some artworks that have come from our designers' and they have been done on the Mac OS, am not sure what version of FH. They have used the following fonts (all Type 1) Baskerville Cyrillic, Bembo, Frutiger, Helvetica, Helvetica Cyrillic, News Gothic and Times. We purchased the respective Type 1 fonts for Windows and installed. When we open the FH doent in FH MXa it tells us that some of the fonts are not installed.

We asked a FH 9 user (Win2K) to install our fonts and open the FH doent. He did not get the missing font dialog. We also asked him to uninstall the fonts and see if the missing font message would show. It did.

The interesting thing is that when the doent is opened in FH9, under the Text->Font menu, the fonts that have been used in the doent and for some reason not available to FH9 are greyed out.
Though these fonts show up in AI.

Anyone shed some light on this?

    Thank you all.

    Hi everybody

See "MXa cant open MX-files correctly (Missing Fonts)" issue in this forum. There is full explanation of the font problems in MXa.
