    Default Forms Insert Image Field?

I want to create a form for a client with the standard form elements that can be filled out and saved with Reader. This seems to be the case with Professional 8 but wanted to be sure.

I will create form on a Mac (G5 tower, duel 2gig, OSX 10.4.8 ) but the client will access from Wintel boxes.

Also the client wants the ability to place an image in the form (captured from microscope). Is this possible? The image will always be unique so stamps do not seem possible. The form data does not need to be captured into a database, just printed and saved. I currently have Acrobat Pro 6 but if 8 can handle this I will upgrade. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just to clarify - are you requiring a custom image field based upon the request ?

Jon, I am not sure what you are asking. Basically the blank form would have a box with a button that you could click to choose an image from your computer that would then be placed in that box. Thanks for your help.

Designer has this form field option. Unfortunatley, unless you have access to Acrobat 7 on Windows, you won't be able to make this field

Thanks MarkATS. I finally got hold of someone at Adobe and she said this will be an option in Pro 8, so I guess I will just have to wait and see if that is the case.

    in Pro 8,

It depends. It will allow you to create PDF forms that Reader users can fill out and save, but the attaching of images with Reader won't be possible.

Hmmm, hate to hear that. I wonder if it would be possible if the client had Standard? Thanks for the help.

Will be no Standard version of 8. Pro only.

They've discovered about 90 percent of what can be done in Standard can already be acomplished in the OSX operationg system.

Thanks pjonesCET. My client is on Windows and I was referring to them purchasing standard. But no matter the operating system or Acrobat version I do not believe it can do what my client is looking for anyway. Thanks for the help.

I happily stand corrected. If anyone else is interested, what I was looking for can be accomplished with the Image Field Object. When the user clicks on this they can choose an image file to place. This may be common knowledge, but just thought I would share for those Acrobat neophytes like me.

    EB,

You can do what you want using Filemaker Pro Advanced. But to have it
work under Windows, you will need a Windows machine for you to compile
it with OR they and you will need copies of FileMaker Pro.

    dear Eb

i saved an image as a pdf ... then
went back to my fillable form on the mac and asked it to show comments
then in the comments i attached a file ... i saved the fillable form as
    a pdf...
then sent it via email to the windows pc...
there upon opening >went to the page i had placed the image on as a
    comment
where now a bright yellow tack showed ...;)
clicking on the tack i was offered the option of opening file
which i did and a seperate pdf opened with a nice full size of my
    pic...

you will have to play around with this a little ...
looking for how to best save the pic to achieve best quality opening...

you might even be able to imbed each image with a custom tool tip ...
or as if it were a readers message... showing when mouse runs over...

if you go to eeggs.com you will see that adobe has a situaion where by
you hold down a certain pattern of keys and little ducks appear as the
    program opens...
there is no reason why they (adobe) should not share with you how they
do this which would be a much easier way of showing your client pics
then the way i described ...
but the way i described, though rudementry, certainly works...
    yours
