Default Forum Building without Extensions???

Is there any way to build a forum with Dreamweaver without having to buy the
$300 Toolkit? I'm a student and I"m poor even with a discount I still would
have to pay about $200. With MySQL, Apache, and all the rest free I'm just
wondering if I can manage to build a forum site without additional expenses.

Depending on how complex you want your forum to be, you should be able to do it without buying anything, and using only the built in features of Dreamweaver. Take a read through the docs, especially the "Making pages dyanmic" and :Building applications visually" sections:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/

From there, you should ask specific questions in the Dreamweaver Application Development forum:

Or you may want to take a look at some of the free discussion forums that are out there already and then work on changing to look how you want it to look:

I've not used any of them, but I've seen Snitz recommended before. Their offering is ASP based, so if you're using ColdFusion or PHP (or something else), then include the language in the search and you should get a lot of results.

Ok...I was planning on using WAMP for server purposes. All the docs I see
require ImpAKT extension for Dreamweaver. Now that it is discontinued I will
have to use the toolbox with WAMP. So I will review the docs and see if it's
possible. I don't have a specific question cause I haven't gotten that far
yet. My forum will be extremely simple just one topic so hopefully after
reading the docs I will be good to go....and with all that vagueness I'm outta
here.
