Default Free ASP Host

Could someone please help me.

I need a free ASP host, the ones I've seen so far are great with one major
exception - you cannot use an SQL UPDATE command - seems daft but there you
go!

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who knows of a free host where I
can use the SQL UPDATE command.

TIA

Chris

This isn't to say that there aren't some out there, but remember, you get
what you pay for. Why would any host be free? But, you may want to check
out http://www.brinkster.com/. I don't know anything about them, but I know
that place is popular in the ASP world.

I host with Verio, and I will say that it's nowhere close to free, but I
wanted my own reliable dedicated server, and after getting burned by an
econo-host with a junky dedicated server, I said to hell with it and went
with a company that I know is not going to disappear on any given day.

For those who haven't noticed, Rackshack now offers dedicated WS2003
servers. I'll be getting one when my Verio contract is up. :]

Yes, but those of us who are looking for a cheap host have good reasons. In
my case, my site is not selling anything. I have twin 23-month-olds and one
on the way, and so would rather pay $5 a month than $20 or whatever for what
is basically a labor of love.

If I were developing a site for a business, I would, of course, recommend
that they use a more established host, but then again, $20 a month isn't as
big a deal for a business as it is for me.

My point is that there is a legitimate market for the $5 host.

Absolutely, there is. But, in my opinion, there is a huge difference
between paying $n (where n is any positive integer) a month and $0 a month.
My girlfriend hosts a few sites with myhosting (or the host formerly known
as? I forget) for like $10 a month, and it suits her just fine.
