Free History plugin

Works similarly to the history palette in Photoshop and it's free.

Re: Free History plugin
Last evening I downloaded this free plug-in, and I have discovered
what appears to be a serious bug in it.
I am compiling a long bibliographical work, and for me one of the most
useful keyboard shortcuts in ID is Ctrl-Shift-F8, which allows me to
pop a selected personal name (first and last) into the index in
inverted form. When this plug-in is installed, the shortcut no longer
works properly: instead of <lastname-comma-space-firstname> in the
index, what I now get is <firstname-comma-space-lastname-comma>. And
once a file has been opened with this plug-in in the ID plug-in
subdirectory, it is permanently corrupted; the shortcut will not work
again, even after the plug-in has been removed.
The only solution is to remove the plug-in and replace the corrupted
file with a backup file. This of course will mean some loss of work,
but it seems to do the trick.
For the record, I am using InDesign CS in Windows 2000.

Re: Free History plugin
Oops. How easy it is to make a fool of oneself in front of a lot of
people on the Web. I have now done some further experiments with the
"MultiDo" plug-in, and I find that it is innocent of the accusations I
brought against it. The source of the problem was a piece of stupidity
on my part that it would be too tedious and embarrassing to explain.
In fact, MultiDo is a very useful little plug-in, and I apologize for
my blunder.

Kind of funny that that this thread has generated almost no response.
The Mac side generated quite a bit of discussion. <g>

Re: Free History plugin
Bob,
thanks for that nice hint - works fine. Again I'm surprized what great tools> http://www.65bit.com/products/multido/multido.shtm
are available and announced here "on the side" - the last one was that
famous tool to rename bounds of files in a folder at once (rjh-extensions).

I tend to check the mac side first because it appears to get more traffic and alas, I miss working on the Mac.

Standard stuff. Most recent file list is gone, but the there's no
palette reset like there was in ID 2.0.

Re: Free History plugin
I think my palettes moved (honestly can't remember now) but the workspace
feature makes that irrelevant.
I have also found that adding plug-ins or patches can change story editor
defaults, but not necessarily. It can also make any custom keyboard
shortcuts inoperable, but the workaround here is to select the standard
shortcut set, OK it, then go back and select you custom set. I do that
automatically after an update now so I can't say if this was actually
necessary when I installed this plug-in.
But even with these irritations, it looks as if the plug-in is worth having.

Re: Free History plugin
I've downloaded this Plug In, but can't get it to work. I've tried copying just the .pln file, and then tried the whole folder, into my Plug Ins folder, but keep getting the message:
"Font Capture:InDesign.exe - Bad Image
The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Adobe\InDesign CS\Plug-ins\MULTIDOCS\MULTIDOCS.PLN is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."
I've also tried Restarting the computer, but no joy. Can anyone help?
