    Default Freehand 10/Panther Font Problems

I have upgraded 6 macs to Panther and installed Freehand 10. We have always used Freehand 8 for years, and it has served us well and been reliable. After installing Suitcase X1, and loading up a old Freehand file into 10, everything looked fine. Until I printed this file out, some fonts substituted to courier. I used Font Doctor to repair and check the fonts, but it still keeps re-occuring. Help please somebody. This is a big problem for us!

Here some basic things you could check out:
    - are all PostScript fonts included with the screenfonts?
    - does Suitcase X1 report any duplicate fonts ore corrupt ones?
    - I could not find any compatibility information on Extensis site, about
Suitcase X1 and Panther. They always talk about system 10.2.6-10.2.8
Maybe there is an incompatibility with panther.

To check this, put just the needed fonts with postscript font-files into
one of the */Library/Fonts folders in Panther, turn Suitcase off, open
Freehand10 with your Document and try to print.

There is a known problem with Freehand 10 and Mac OS X (not just Panther) with fonts being substituted. This is most likely to happen with bold fonts. Macromedia offer no (real) fix apart from converting all type to curves before printing. As a prepress bureau we do this as a matter of course with Freehand 10.

Freehand MX/a is too buggy to be considered a fix---it will fix this particular problem but introduces a myriad of problems with fonts and printing bugs.
