freehand 9 printing troubles

I have been using Freehand 9 on a WIN XP machine for a number of years and
i am so tired of the unpredictable way in which it prints... first i
realize they are big files, but when i send it to print... on my epson
1280... it can take 20 minutes to spool a run of 10... then the fun
begins...one time it cranked our 30 prints on a 10 print run... never the
amount i sent to the printer, and if i do a second run without quitting
freehand and re booting it gets worse in multiples, i tried to call macro
media but they no longer will even try to give me a hint about what to
do...Until I buy the newest version... cant even have a quick chat to a
tech... well that sucks!!

anyway... does anyone know about this type of problem and have you found a
solution...
