Freehand EPS files causing InDesign to Crash
I need some advice here. I've used Freehand since its infancy, and
have always loved the program over others. But now, when I export a
Freehand graphic (no fonts in it) as an EPS file and import into Adobe
InDesign, it either causes the file to: 1) not print or 2) crash the
program. These are all eps files that were originally created in older
versions of Freehand, but they've been upgraded through the years into
newer versions of Freehand. I'm currently using FH10, but downloaded a
trial version of MX, and the problem still occurs. The same problem
occurs if I try to save the file from InDesign as a PDF.
I've taken the same graphic, exported from FH as an Illustrator 7
file, opened it in Illus 10, and then saved it as an Illustrator EPS
file. The imported ai file doesn't cause InDesign to crash at all, and
it prints fine. Do I need to re-do ALL my logos and files as
Illustrator files to be able to use them in InDesign, or is this a
problem anyone else has solved?
I'll also try posting to InDesign forum, but I'm baffled. Thanks.

Re: Freehand EPS files causing InDesign to Crash
Mark,
Did you try exporting from FH as a Quark EPS? I have done that and had no
problems with InD 2.

Re: Freehand EPS files causing InDesign to Crash
Yes, same problem happens when I export as a Quark EPS. Also happens
whether I import the graphic or drag and drop.
Thanks,
Mark
