Freehand export to pdf with Service Pack2 installed - Macromedia Freehand

Hi, When I export from Freehand MXa or version 10 to a PDF, Acrobat can't load the file. Acrobat Reader 5 reports: 'There was an error processing a page. There was a problem reading this doent (110).' This export (same freehand file) worked a month ago. What has changed is that the PC was rebuilt with Windows XP Professional - Service Pack 2. I have tried to export from another computer with Windows XP Home Service Pack 2 and get the same result - 'There was an error...'. However, when I export this file from Freehand 10 on a Windows98 ...

Default Freehand export to pdf with Service Pack2 installed

    Hi,

When I export from Freehand MXa or version 10 to a PDF, Acrobat can't load the
    file.

    Acrobat Reader 5 reports:
'There was an error processing a page. There was a problem reading this
    doent (110).'

This export (same freehand file) worked a month ago. What has changed is that
the PC was rebuilt with Windows XP Professional - Service Pack 2. I have tried
to export from another computer with Windows XP Home Service Pack 2 and get the
same result - 'There was an error...'. However, when I export this file from
Freehand 10 on a Windows98 PC it works fine.

At this stage I'd blame service pack 2 (yeah - blame Microsoft again!). Does
anyone else have this problem? If so, how could it be fixed?

    Thanks,

Although it may be caused by Service Pack 2 I would blame FreeHand export filters. In general Windows seem to be way better programmed than FreeHand.

Maybe with SP2 Windows do not tolerate badly behaving software anymore.

PS I do not know about software but Microsoft is #1 manufacture of computer mice.

This problem happened on my Windows workstations too. All were upgraded to
Adobe Acrobat 6 pro, and Reader was bumped up to version 6. Solved.
Same poke in the eye happened on the Mac workstation, but flip-flopped a
    bit....
Export a PDF from FreeHand 11.02, open PDF in PhotoshopCS, save edit as PDF
    and.....FreeHand cannot open it. Fun.
    I remember it well.

    Thanks,

I've gone to Acrobat 7 but the problem is in the way Freehand creates the PDF
under service pack 2. The files created prior to installing service pack 2 open
fine. Something must be switched to 'evil' somewhere.

    Cheers,
