We should all be issued with it free of charge or ignore it completely.

How long has it been since FHmx was released? I think we are reaching the
18month mark. So a upgrade should be in the next 6 months which equals 2 years
again like the wait from FH 10 to mx..haha. But you can bet it will not be
free. Remember MM is a business and have to make up for the cost of developing
    their software.

Surely they should pay us for 'beta testing' their bug ridden software... ;-)

You are correct Simon..haha. But what MM should do is have beta versions of FH avaiable for a 30 day trial so we can all use it and report the bugs before they release the Final.

I questioned the news source that was claiming a new version of FreeHand MX
(2oo4/2oo5) was upon us. That particularly publication is staffed with
people who love FreeHand and I think were buoyed by the release of the MX
2004 product range; they optimistically assumed that a new version of
FreeHand MX would have to emerge during this product cycle. They started
hinting about it in November 2003 and then claimed it should be upon us by
    February 2004...

When I last spoke with someone there in March, they said that actually they
had seen nothing on it, not a preview release, a beta, a review
copy...nothing. It was all just wishful thinking.

Now, whether they got their hands slapped by MM and took cover, who knows?
I have a feeling that we won't see a new FreeHand MX until the next Studio
MX product cycle. Considering the slow take up of Flash MX 2004 (the
ActionScript 2.0 third-party manuals haven't even been released yet), it
    could be a while.

I got a feeling that MM is rewriting FHMX for open type and Unicode.
So I am looking forward to the next release.
