Thanks for the info...Doesn't look like I'm going to get anything for
nothing....Why should I !!!

Anyway, maybe I should have started the message body with - Does anyone know
where I can buy a 3D program under ?100?....Since I only want to create a few
different 3D images based on simple furniture design which I can rotate within
Director MX.

Since no-one else has mentioned it, there is Blender3D (www.blender3d.org),
which is free and very good, but I don't know if there is a W3D exporter
yet. There is a suggested solution here:

I haven't tried any of this so YMMV, but should be worth looking at if you
are on a tight budget.

Just wanted to point out that if your models have less than 500 faces
then you can just use the trial version, no payment required.

I guess your best option is ShapeShifter3D, but it's U$ 199.95 for a cross-platform license. Link:

After much scrutiny I decided to buy Amabalis - Have downloaded the Pro version
and it was relatively inexpensive but offers a lot of online help tutorials and
covers a whole range of features which I have still to understand. The
tutorials are written well, too bad they're online as it would have been nice
to download them in a zip file. But, for the grand total of ?46.47 it's a
pretty good price and I'm not complaining!

Thanks for the feedback from everyone on this...Thanks evt for pointing it out.

np...

The only gotcha is that it will only support one color or texture per
modle. Now, you can unrwap a model and apply one texture that covers it
(check out the texture wrapping tutorial), but that gets kind of hard
depending on the complexity of the model. Now, if you don't need
bones...you can export to an .obj file and then use the 3dspeed port
xtra to convert it.

Anyway, the guy that makes this program does a good job supporting
it...that and you can follow most online 3d tutorials (normally done in
max) too.

There's a lot in there for the price.

If you register and get the pro version...you should also get the local
help files...
