From Freehand to PDF
Hello guys,
I'm having hard time exporting my pages from freehand to PDF. Printer wont
take anyother format but PDF. I tried many options like exporting pages as esp
then going through acrobat distiller...somehow the outcome is always
frustrating... Can anyone tell me what to do, my layout in freehand has images
and text, I'm looking for a way to convert them to pdf...a nice quality
pdf...any help is appreciated. thanx.

Print a postscript file (with crop marks, registration marks etc - if needed) then distill in Acrobat Distiller using Print Optimised setting.

dowload for free a program that basically does PDF's for you, you guys may
check it out..http://www.primopdf.com/...I'll try it the first thing in the

Re: From Freehand to PDF
Interesting... they claim "all graphics intact'. The true test of
serviceability will be whether or not it will handle source files with
placed EPS's.
The Jaws PDF Creator utilizes a very good Postscript interpreter, and
does very well in this regard.
http://www.jawspdf.com/
In fact, if you download their no-time-limit demo, you can use it to
create PDF files from your other applications, and when you import
them into FreeHand, it's a snap to delete the "DEMO' object - the only
thing that is different from the retail version. This is VERY handy
for porting artwork from "difficult" programs into Freehand, or for
'ripping' EPS files that FreeHand won't open. (i.e. most EPS files)
Nudge, nudge, wink, wink...

Re: From Freehand to PDF
Best way to create your pdfs is using Distiller. Diwnload and install thez
Postscript Print Driver and acrobat Distiller PPD from
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html. Install both of them, there
are instructions somewhere on Adobes website on how to do this, can't remember
the URL. Create a postscript file by selecting Postscript as your printer then
printing to file. The resulting .ps file will be converted to .pdf by Distiller.
Just be sure to check all the print/job options in Freehand and Distiller are
correct before creating the .pdf.
Hope this helps

Re: From Freehand to PDF
Made a mistake in the above post (it's late here). "Text" in the above post is a link to the adobe main download page.
