    What error message?
Does the system need an initrd image?
Did you run "lilo -v" to update the MBR or edit grub for the new
    kernel?

Does /dev/hda2 exist? If not, you may need to mknod or MAKEDEV.
Does the file fsck.ext3 exist (probably in /sbin)? If not, search for
the package that contains that file (e2fsprogs in Debian).
