FULL-TEXT CATALOGS - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

I would like to include index search in my program, but I can't find FULL-TEXT CATALOGS option in my database. This should be present when you click on database in enterprise manager Does anybody know where I should look? Is this some setting in SQL? Should I install SQL server again, but I don't won't to lose something. I install the same version at home once and there I have this option Thank you, Simon...

First thing you should do is start the 'MS SEARCH' Service.
You can start it either with SERVICE MANAGER or in EM (expand 'support
services', right click FULL TEXT SEARCH / START).
Then, expand your database, right click the 'FULL TEXT CATALOG' item, create
a new catalog and continue from there.
You can also use the wizard (EM - Tools / wizards / database / full text
indexing wizard ) which will guide you through the complete process.
I suggest you first read the 'full-text catalogs, overview' topic in BOL and
make sure this is really what you need.

    Simon and Amy,
When troubleshooting Full-text Search (FTS) it is very important to get not
only the exact SQL Server version, but also the Edition level, Service Pack
level and the OS Platform that this SQL Server version is installed. Simon,
could you post the full output of:

    select version

If you have the "Personal Edition" of SQL Server version ?, then the
necessary Full-text Search components was not installed as this edition of
SQL Server does not support FTS. FTS is only supported on the Developer,
Standard and Enterprise editions. So, to get this feature, you will need to
upgrade to one of these editions.

Note, you can also post FTS related questions to the newsgroup:
    microsoft.public.sqlserver.fulltext
    Regards,
    John
