    Grace,

    Ok..Unique Index on *multiple* columns is not allowed.Since the article
    doesnt mention anything about any fixes, I guess you have to go ahead with
    the workaround. In the meanwhile, let me get this clarified in the mvp
    newsgroup and would update this thread in case of any positive leads.

    This is more of a "PRB" than an actual bug as it is "by design", but still
    considered a bug by Microsoft. I filed the "bug" while at MS.
    This is a restriction of the "Microsoft Search" service (mssearch.exe)
    imposed on SQL Server, that *might* get lifted in future versions of SQL
    Server, but then again it may still be a restriction in future versions of
    SQL Server... <g>
