    Which link - the one that the menu will take you to? It should really be
    /index.html but it's not. FW will create it as a doent relative link,
    i.e., index.html, but since these links are embedded in the menu's
    javascript, and since that REMOVES those links from management by DW's link
    management routines, if you then save a page containing the menu into a
    subfolder, the doent relative link will no longer function properly.

    browser preview, evey thing looks OK. But after inserted in DW ( 4.01 ) the
    location went far away from designed location under browser preview. What
    went wrong?

    Frankly, what went wrong is that you used these menus to begin with. I'd
    need to look at your code to see why it looked right in FW and not in DW.
    Generally if you place the menus in the correct place in the FW file, that's
    where they will be in the DW file. There is a technote on the MM site about
    how to move them around after the fact, so to speak - you may find that one
    helpful.

    These menus are an abomination (in my humble opinion) and should be removed
    from the product. As with HTML frames, you just have no idea what lurks
    'under the covers' when you use them, unless you are an experienced coder,
    in which case you'd never use them anyhow.

    I don't know which one -- htm or html, but would be able to explain a bit. There was a time when only 3 characters were allowed in a file extention...thats the time htm was used. Now it's possible to use more than 3 characters...So try html.

    I suggest you to switch to DW MX.

    You can change the postion of your menu by going to the html page (view). You can move it to your desirable location by changing the digits that's already there.

    Dear Murray

    The code in DW looks like this:-

    <script language="JavaScript1.2">fwLoadMenus();</script>
    <img name="navigationtest" src="image/navigation-test.gif" width="726" height="30" border="0" usemap="#m_navigation-test">
    <!-- fwtable fwsrc="navigation.png" fwbase="navigation-test" fwstyle="Dreamweaver" fwdocid = "742308039" fwnested="0" -->
    <map name="m_navigation-test">
    <area shape="rect" coords="224,0,400,30" href="#" onMouseOut="FW_startTimeout();" onMouseOver="window.FW_showMenu(window.fw_menu_0,2 22,28);" >
    <area shape="rect" coords="590,0,708,30" href="#" onMouseOut="FW_startTimeout();" onMouseOver="window.FW_showMenu(window.fw_menu_1,5 84,28);" >
    <area shape="rect" coords="414,0,578,30" href="#" onMouseOut="FW_startTimeout();" onMouseOver="window.FW_showMenu(window.fw_menu_2,4 18,28);" >
    <area shape="rect" coords="28,0,200,22" href="#" onMouseOut="FW_startTimeout();" onMouseOver="window.FW_showMenu(window.fw_menu_3,3 0,30);" >
    </map>

    Would you please advise? Thanks,

    FS

    Can I see more code please? And would you restate your question again? I'm
    a little confused which one we're working on now! 8) The code below gives
    me no good clues.
