g77 on MacOS X - Mac Programming

Hi, has anybody gotten g77 (Fortran 77 compiler) to work on Panther? I installed Xcode 1.1 (seems to be fine) and Fink 0.6.2 (seems to be fine also) & used FinkCommander to install g77 (from source, 3.4-20031015). However, the build appears to be going into an infinite loop, repeating the whole process. There were warnings but I did not see actual error msgs except for a few unsuccessful moves (mv... Error: directory not found). I am trying to get an old piece of code to work. I also tried f2c but it won't compile. I know the source is ok ...

    Default g77 on MacOS X

Hi, has anybody gotten g77 (Fortran 77 compiler) to work on Panther?

I installed Xcode 1.1 (seems to be fine) and Fink 0.6.2 (seems to be
fine also) & used FinkCommander to install g77 (from source,
    3.4-20031015).

However, the build appears to be going into an infinite loop, repeating
the whole process. There were warnings but I did not see actual error
msgs except for a few unsuccessful moves (mv... Error: directory not
    found).

I am trying to get an old piece of code to work. I also tried f2c but it
won't compile. I know the source is ok since it compiles fine on Solaris
(old code, hasn't been touched for years).

Any hint how to get this going would be appreciated. I did email the
maintainer but am not too optimistic here.

Any chance there is abinary out there somewhere??

    Yes, on two different Macs.

I used the command line: sudo fink install g77.

I didn't happen to notice a lot of error messages, but I didn't save the
    output from the installation.
