Gaussian blur freezes Photoshop

Working Windows 2000, Pshop 6.0. When I select gaussian blur Photoshop freezes up forcing me to Control Alt Delete to close the program.

I just did a complete reinstall and the problem still persists.

Did you recently change screen resolutions or have a dual monitor setup? See:

Another thought. Depending upon file size and the amount of blur, you may be overextending the resources of your system. How much RAM do you have installed? Is it one or many files? How big are these files?
