Getting Bookmarks to Appear in PDF file created from multiple files
Hi all,
I'd toast anyone's health who could solve this !!
When I turn an individual doc file into a PDF by opening the doc file in Word then clicking the "Convert to Adobe PDF" menu command in Word, I get bookmarks for all the Headings.
When I take the same doc file and in Windows Explorer, right-click it and choose "Combine in Adobe Acrobat", the click OK on the Create PDF from Multiple Documents dialog box, no bookmarks appear.
Arrrrrrgh. Even if you can't tell me how to fix this, I'd be grateful to know if it is a bug.
Love
Elizabeth

Re: Getting Bookmarks to Appear in PDF file created from multiple files
It sounds like you are using AA6 since you mention combining multi-ple documents.
I had the same sort of results you did: when I converted one Word document (using the Icon) to a PDF, bookmarks were in the resulting PDF; when I created a PDF from multiple word files, there were no bookmarks, nor any place I saw where I could have specified them
I should mention that I do not have the patch for AA6 installed (I have it, but for some bizarre reason, the computer dept where I work has not installed it), and I am also not the most adept with either Word or AA6 (neither of which I much like).

Re: Getting Bookmarks to Appear in PDF file created from multiple files
Elizabeth--
I have 6.0.1 Professional, and it worked for me. however, acrobat also added a heading 1 placeholder bookmark with the doc file name.
You're right though--there's no place to specify bookmark settings--it just uses your conversion settings as they are.
I don't know what to tell you...i wish it would work for you, too.

Re: Getting Bookmarks to Appear in PDF file created from multiple files
HURRAH. I HAVE THE SOLUTION
Open Adobe Acrobat. From the Edit menu, click Preferences.
In the left pane, select Convert to PDF.
In the second list, select Microsoft Office.
Click the Edit Settings button and ensure you have the Bookmarks check box selected.
Talk about hidden !!!
