Getting error after administrator who upgraded from CS3to CS4
Hi,
We have had an administrator who upgraded from CS3 to CS4. However, any of our
other users still using CS3 now get the following error message:
?The website is being administered with a newer version of Contribute. For
more information contact this website's administrator."
Do you know any way around this issue?
Thanks,
Greg

Re: Getting error after administrator who upgraded fromCS3 to CS4
I am having a problem after upgrading to Dreamweaver CS4. I cannot administer
the site how with all my clients using Contribute 3.11. They can still edit
pages and update, but I can't change anything on the administrative side. The
error states that my version of Contribute is too old. Is there a way around
this?

Re: Getting error after administrator who upgraded fromCS3 to CS4
Hi Dominic,
Per your post, how do we go about "removing the administration from CS4"?
The admin of the website which was originally created using CS3, recently
upgraded to CS4. So now no one can use the admin features using CS3. We need to
fix this for our customer....revert back to managing the website in CS3? How
can we do this?
Any help you can provide will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Getting error after administrator who upgraded fromCS3 to CS4
Hi,
To remove Administration:
1) You have to connect to the site using CS4.
2) Administer the site.
3) Select Administration category and click on Remove Administration.
Note: This action will completely will remove all rolls and administrative
settings on that site.
Re-connect to the site again using CS3 and Administer it.
Thanks.

Re: Getting error after administrator who upgraded fromCS3 to CS4
Thanks for your fast response Dominic. Before we proceeded to remove the
administration from CS4, you had said that it would remove all the roles and
admin settings also. I just wanted to confirm that if it did that , and then we
open up the site in CS3, will the roles/admin settings exist in CS3 or will
they have to be re-created?

Re: Getting error after administrator who upgraded fromCS3 to CS4
After removing the administration and when you connect in CS3, you will not
find any roles/admin setting. It will be like an non-administered site, you
have to re-create all the role/admin setting/connection keys...
Thanks.

Re: Getting error after administrator who upgraded fromCS3 to CS4
I'm having the same issue, although with Contribute 4, not CS3. After I remove
the administration from CS4 and recreate the connection in Contribute 4, I'm
getting the message "Your version of Contribute is too old to administer this
website. Please use a newer version of Contribute or contact another website
administrator." My users are on Contribute 4 and I just recently upgraded to
CS4. Any ideas?

Re: Getting error after administrator who upgraded fromCS3 to CS4
Hi,
If you had removed the Administration in CS4, then it will not show you a
roles, when your are connecting. It will be like a non-administered site.
Please follow the steps to removed the administration in CS4, mentioned in the
above thread.
Thanks.

Hi,
No the don't have to, at least I think so. If your administror go to the
menubar: Contribute>Administer Websites> Choose the site you wish to set the
settings for. In 'Compatibility' choose 'Transition Mode' and klik OK. This
should allow the other users to keep working in their version of Contribute.
I say 'should'... Read my entry in the general discussion forum.

Re: Getting error after administrator who upgraded fromCS3 to CS4
Thanks for your replay this should help however I am still confused about the
transition setting note that says CS4 administrative setting will not apply to
users of CS3? does this mean that any changes I make CS3 users will not see or
that only new features will be unavailable to them?

Sorry, I have no idea....yet. Trial and error I'm afraid. When I find out I'll mention it here.

Re: Getting error after administrator who upgraded fromCS3 to CS4
I have resolved my issue, which was actually a problem with our server security
settings. However, just wanted to let you know that once that was resolved, my
Contribute 4 users CAN connect to sites I'm administering through CS4. I have
transition mode selected in the administration area, and it seems to be working
correctly.
