I have a debian sarge system with an epson stylus c80 printer connected to the
lp port.

The printer has stopped working and I suspect one of the print cartridges is
out of ink. In order to find out which one, I installed and ran escputil.

I think the command I should use is

escputil -i -r /dev/lp0

(although /dev/lp0 is a symlink to /dev/printers/0 because devfs is installed
- - I did try using /dev/printers/0 too).

However it just hangs doing nothing.

fuser /dev/lp0 shows the pid for escputil as the only process using the
device.

What an I doing wrong?
