getting internet explorer to use my hosts file
Hi,
I need some help. I have a comprehensive hosts file that
I want windows to use. I have created the file, with no
file extension, and have placed it in the appropriate
directory, system32/drivers/etc.
My problem lies with the fact that I can ping a domain
from the list using ping and the correct IP is returned.
However, if I try to navigate to the domain through the
explorer, the actual domain shows up and not the IP from
the hosts file.
I have a home network:
linksys wireless router,
wireless adapter,
etc.
The network works, ie I can communicate among the
computers.
Can someone offer some good advice?
Thanks in advance,
Eddie
