Getting OSX finder to refresh folder contents? - Mac Programming

I was under the impression that re-setting the modification date on a folder would trigger the Finder to redraw its contents. This seems not to be the case (OSX10.3.2). When my app adds a new file to a folder, it will not show up until I click on the Finder window showing that folder. I am using FSSetCatalogInfo to set the date. Default Getting OSX finder to refresh folder contents?

I was under the impression that re-setting the modification date on a
folder would trigger the Finder to redraw its contents. This seems
not to be the case (OSX10.3.2). When my app adds a new file to a
folder, it will not show up until I click on the Finder window showing
that folder. I am using FSSetCatalogInfo to set the date. Is there
some other way to notify the Finder to immediately update a folder
    display?

Also, does anyone know easiest way to trigger a Finder window to open
and display a certain folder. Is it possible to have this display
occur within a window controlled by the app? Like the navigation
services, but as a persistent window rather than dialog for one
    purpose?

I use [NSWorkspace noteFileSystemChanged:]. Alternative just send it an

Not the Finder, but you can ask Nav Services to show you a modeless selection
window by using kWindowModalityNone in NavDialogCreationOptions.

Thanks. Any suggestion where I can find doentation/sample code
(ideally C)on exactly how to do that? I would guess there is also an
Apple event to ask the finder to open a folder, perhaps just open
    doent with a folder reference?
