Default getting Word art and graphics to export inpdf file from Indesign CS2

As a new user of Indesign I have produced a 20 page newsletter and pasted graphics and word art from Microsoft Word in the doent. When I save it as a pdf file the graphics and word art are lost. Is there a way to paste it inorder to get it to show in a pdf file? I did not have this problem when saving a Word doent to a pdf file.

Copy&Paste from other applications is a very problematic way, always
place graphics into InDesign, even when you have to make PDFs out of the
wordart, which you than can place as pictures in InDesign.

Beside this using wordart from Word in InDesign is somewhat heretic, as
they aren't part of what I would call a professional layout done with a
professional layout software that InDesign is.

If you insist on using the Word graphics then create a PDF of the Word
file...open it in Illustrator and then either save it as AI or
    copy/paste the graphic from Illustrator.

Never copy/paste graphics from Word, PowerPoint, etc.

I do very much appreciate your quick responses. I am NOT a professional (as yet). I have been publishing a newsletter for several years now and, because I have to deal with professional printers my organization was encouraged to use Indesign to protect the integrity of the newsletter. I was trying to somewhat duplicate the work I had created in Word for so many years. I do not have Illustrator. So if I understand you correctly, I need to make a pdf file of each of the graphics themselves and somehow import them into the doents I am now trying to create with Indesign??? Or, is there a place in Indesign where I can create a graphic. As you can see from my questions I am most definitely a Novice with this program.

Create the PDF and then use file>place to put the PDF in your doent.
